Following a disappointing season that saw Kaizer Chiefs finish 10th in the DStv Premiership, former Amakhosi winger Robson Muchichwa has voiced the need for significant changes within the club.
In an exclusive interview with Soccer Laduma, the Zimbabwean-born ex-player emphasized the necessity of both an experienced coach and a fresh squad to revive the club's fortunes.

Muchichwa highlighted the absence of standout players last season and suggested that the club should aim to sign quality players across all departments.
"You need somebody to be in charge. Somebody with experience. A coach who can come in and change things for the better. The club needs a revamp right now and a coach will come in and change almost everything at the club. A coach who will bring in new ideas and change the whole set up while coming with his experience to win things for the team. That's what we need right now," Muchichwa told Soccer Laduma.
The former Zimbabwe national team winger elaborated on the type of players needed to fit the new vision for Chiefs.
"All departments needs quality players. Players who will fit into Kaizer Chiefs' way of doing things and the new coach's style and philosophy. It should not actually be a player who is doing well at their current club because it had proven that not all players who do well at Stellenbosch FC or TS Galaxy, or whichever club they are coming from, will do well at Chiefs. It could be an average player at his current club but if his profile fits that of playing for Kaizer Chiefs then bring him in.
"Sometimes you sign those shining at their clubs right now while you are leaving a right player out because he looks average. So, they should give the new coach quality players. Someone who will come in and change the team for the better," Muchichwa observed.
Currently, Chiefs are in the process of selecting a new head coach, with several candidates reportedly shortlisted for the position. This decision is critical as the club looks to rebuild and improve their standing in the upcoming seasons.
Chiefs are indeed at a pivotal juncture. The call from Muchichwa for a comprehensive overhaul underscores the urgent need for strategic changes to restore the club's competitive edge. By appointing a seasoned coach and carefully selecting players who fit the desired profile and philosophy, Chiefs can hope to regain their status as a powerhouse in South African football.
