As Kaizer Chiefs boss Kaizer Motaung has made a plea to the supporters to exercise patience, the club's legends are avoiding putting pressure on the current team, Joseph 'Banks' Setlhodi told the Siya crew.
Chiefs have had their supporters concerned about the disappointing results and trophy drought that has extended to eight years.
As a result, some of the supporters have resorted to unruly behavior at the stadiums, which has resulted in the club paying a big price from getting fined by the league and playing one game behind closed doors.
Speaking to the media at a function to celebrate his induction into the South African Hall of Fame, where some of the club's former players and legends were invited to a celebratory lunch on Thursday, Motaung called for patience from the supporters.
"What our fans need is a little bit of patience. I understand what they go through in terms of being too emotional about the team not being able to achieve results. Patience should be put forward and they must understand things will not be the same. They can only get better from now on," he said, in part.
The Good
"There are times like that in football and things will be alright again and the club is working on it. All the teams do go through phases like this at times but at Chiefs there is protocol and everything is done in a professional manner. The club is in good hands. Right now, it's all about celebrating the man himself (Motaung) and he invited all the generations of Kaizer Chiefs legends and former players. Each and every generation has a story to tell and that is why it was a unique occasion because as the Chiefs family we were all there. All of us from the five different generations shared our stories," said Setlhodi.
The Bad
"We didn't go as far as discussing the current team and the results. It was a different kind of event and we stayed away from discussing games and results to avoid putting them under unnecessary pressure. It was all about celebrating the man behind the club's success over the years. We didn't speak about the current players and their performances at all," he said.
The Ugly
"At Chiefs, there is a protocol and when it comes to partying it is all about that and there won't be anything besides that. When it comes to football meetings, then that's what is going to be on the agenda like you guys want us to talk about the new coach, new players and so on. But that can only happen in its own time. Like I am talking about yesterday in Naturena, we knew that we were there to celebrate Mr. Motaung's achievements. There was nothing on the menu about the football department. Yes, the ex-footballers talked about football from their era and it was just all about that. For example, myself, Jackie (Masike) and Kaizer himself talked about how the team was started. People want to know these things but that was all," concluded Setlhodi.
