Kaizer Chiefs striker Ashley Du Preez attracted interest from Portugal, but indications are that his potential move was hindered by injury.
The forward sustained an injury in January against his former club, Stellenbosch FC.

As previously reported by the Siya crew, Vitória SC had shown interest in the Cape Town-born striker, and Chiefs had set a R40 million price tag on the player. However, insiders at the club have revealed that the injury Du Preez suffered disrupted the potential move.
"The injury is what disturbed everything. We were not sure how long it will take to heal and Victoria SC didn't want to pay so much money and not be sure of how long the injury will take. You know even now, he is still out and it's not good for him. But you know such things are part of football. It's not the end of it all. He is 27 years old and anything can still happen. The interest hasn't died it was just disturbed," the source revealed to the Siya crew.

Furthermore, indications are that Amakhosi were preparing for the possibility of losing Du Preez.
"The priority signing in the next transfer window period is (a focus) on the striking department and as they prepare for the eventuality of not having Du Preez and are not ruling out the possibility of losing him," the source added.
Before his injury, the former Stellenbosch FC striker had featured in 12 games, scoring two goals this season. Last season, he made 23 league appearances, netting four goals.
The Siya crew reached out to Chiefs for comment, but attempts were unsuccessful.
