First impressions last, and Gavin Hunt has been blown away by one of the Kaizer Chiefs' youngsters that has recently come up the ranks.
Njabulo Blom came off the bench in Amakhosi's 2-1 come from behind victory over Maritzburg United in the MTN8 quarterfinals on Sunday and won Hunt, who was appointed as the new coach at Naturena last month, over with his display.
"I thought in the midfield we were not picking up the second ball. We were not getting close to them, and the youngster Njabulo Blom, I think he is one for the future. I only watched him for a week," Hunt told journalists as he explained his half time changes.
Blom proved to be quite the versatile player last season under then coach Ernst Middendorp, who played him at right back and in midfield on a few occasions.
"I did not want to start with him today. He can cover distances and he has a great engine. In a few seconds of coming on, he played that long pass to Bernard Parker who should have scored," Hunt said of the youth international.
Blom is still only 20 and was promoted to the first team by Middendorp in March last year.
