Ncanana was signed by Chiefs in 2010 and was with the Soweto giants until 2012. The defensive midfielder struggled for game-time at the star-studded Amakhosi and he eventually left the club to join Blackburn Rovers in the second tier in 2012.

He had made his Amakhosi debut under Vladimir Vermezovic and current Chiefs' team manager Gerald Sibeko was one of his teammates at the time.
