On the back of Kaizer Chiefs apologising for the supporters' behaviour, a message of encouragement has been sent to the club.
On Tuesday, Chiefs issued a letter of apology for the supporters' behaviour after a section of spectators threw objects at the Mbombela Stadium pitch in the direction of the club's head coach Molefi Ntseki following their 1-0 loss to TS Galaxy on August 20.
The incident led to the Soweto giants getting a fine from the PSL as confirmed by the league's prosecutor Zola Majavu last week.
Former Chiefs defender Isaac Mabotsa, who has been impressed with the team's progress and encouraging them for further improvement, has asked for calmness from the supporters.
The Good
"There is definitely improvement from the team. The team is winning and that shows that there is somewhere that the club is going. I am just hoping that coach Ntseki is given enough time to coach Chiefs to where he wants to take the club and that's at the top. All that is needed is patience and the coach allowed to do his job. There is progress. Talking about that (the upcoming MTN8 second leg semi-final match), at the moment the score is 1-1 which means that both teams still have a chance of progressing. The game will start at 0-0 and each of the two teams will be aiming for a win and therefore both sides will be going for goals to achieve that. The aim for Chiefs should be going for an early goal to increase the chances of winning," Mabotsa has pointed out.
The Bad
"Chiefs are a big club and our supporters want to see the team winning all the time. But patience is key and the supporters need to understand that. It's a difficult one because even during my time there, Bra K (Kaizer Motaung, Chiefs chairman), used to tell us that Chiefs is Chiefs because of the supporters. I do understand the supporters sometimes on where they come from with regards to their frustrations because there are loyal ones who use their hard earned money to support the club through and through. Some of them come from far away to follow the team wherever it plays and there are a lot of sacrifices that are being made in the process. I am not saying that what they do with booing the coach and throwing things inside the pitch is right, but what I am saying is that Chiefs deserve to be at the same level with Sundowns," he said.
The Ugly
"If you look at a team like Sundowns, I mean they have made it five out of five victories, and Chiefs need to be on that same level. Chiefs belong there. Some of the supporters have to be on the road day and night to get to watch Chiefs and that's why I am saying that sometimes their frustrations are understandable. But with regards to the throwing of objects to the field, I am not promoting that. But just like Sundowns, Chiefs have to win games week in and week out and there's no two ways about it, that's the culture of Kaizer Chiefs," concluded Mabotsa.
