‘I Just Don’t Know What’s Happening At Chiefs’

Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Isaac Mabotsa is saddened by the latest events at the club, and speaking exclusively to the Siya crew, he has called for togetherness to rectify the situation.

Chiefs have already been knocked out of two competitions, namely the MTN8 and Carling Knockout respectively, while the team's results in the League have been disappointing.

The disappointing results have led to club management making premature changes in the technical team as Molefi Ntseki made way for Cavin Johnson in the position of head coach.

Johnson didn't have the best of starts as Amakhosi lost 2-1 to Golden Arrows in his first match in charge last weekend.

Several coaches have been linked with the Soweto giants since last Monday's announcement about the coaching changes as Johnson is in charge on an interim basis for now.

The Good

"It's sad what has been happening in the team but hopefully the players, management and everyone at Chiefs can work together to come up with a plan to make the supporters happy. For now, we can only wish the coach (Johnson) everything of the best although one has got a feeling that it's going to be tough," said Mabotsa.

The Bad

"First of all, I would like to state that it is never nice to see a coach getting fired from his job (referring to Ntseki's departure). Secondly, understanding that Kaizer Chiefs is a big club and with the fact that the results haven't been forthcoming in the way they have been expected, changes had to be made. In all that has been happening, we have to think about the supporters and how they feel. One has to feel sorry for them because they sacrifice a lot for the club, and they follow the team to wherever the guys are playing. Maybe some of them even use up to the last cent of their hard-earned money to go and watch the team. It's very sad that they don't get anything in the end when it comes to the results," he said.

The Ugly

"When I look at what is happening in the team, I don't want to lie to you, I just don't know what is going on. It's a tough one. The fact that coach Johnson started his reign with a loss puts him under added pressure already and it's going to be tough. But it is good that the club is giving opportunities to local coaches and I guess we have to wait and see," the former right-back concluded.
