The story
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag officially announced the departure of legendary former South African footballer Benni McCarthy from the club on Thursday.
Benni served as a first-team coach at the English giants for the past two seasons but departed after his contract expired at the end of June, having won the FA Cup and Carabao Cup with ten Hag.
Bafana Bafana's all-time top goalscorer departs his boyhood club a change-room favourite among the Manchester United stars, as he received plenty of plaudits from club captain Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Hojlund.
Fans online showed their appreciation for Benni and his short journey at Old Trafford — showering him plenty of love and wishing him the best on his next venture:
