The story
New Kaizer Chiefs defender, Rushwin Dortley, has posted an emotional goodbye message to his former club, Cape Town Spurs.
The 22-year-old signed a three-year deal with Amakhosi after leaving the Urban Warriors following their relegation to the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
His impressive performances in the 2023/24 league season attracted interest from multiple teams and caught the attention of national team scouts, especially during his standout role in Bafana Bafana's 2024 COSAFA Cup campaign in Gqeberha.
Dortley, who can occupy both left-back and left centre-back, thanked his ex-club for nurturing his talent over the last seven years, mentioning that Spurs was like a second home to him:
"Thank you, @capetownspurs_fc for the past 7 years that I have spent at the club and for giving me the platform to start my professional career. Thank you to the owners for believing in me and trusting me, thank you to all the coaches I have worked with over the years and everyone behind the scenes; the kit man, those in the kitchen, the grounds men, drivers and everyone that works at the club.
"And thank you to the amazing fans for everything. The club was always like my second home and will always have a special place in my heart," wrote Dortley on Instagram.
