The story
The versatile Patrick Maswanganyi enjoyed a particularly stellar 2023/24 season, contributing 10 goals and 12 assists in all competitions for the Buccaneers.
"Tito" as he's affectionately known, sealed a remarkable debut season at the Sea Robbers by claiming three major accolades: the DStv Premiership Players' Player of the Season, the DStv Premiership Midfielder of the Season and the Nedbank Cup Player of the Tournament.
Maswanganyi seems more than ready to get the 2024/25 campaign underway and will hope Pirates' pre-season tour to Spain will give him the right boost going into his second season at the Soweto giants.
The ex-SuperSport United baller joined Pirates in time for their first tour to Spain last year and is looking forward to improving himself further against foreign opposition.
"If feels amazing, I'm very proud of myself. My teammates, my coaches, I think they've helped me a lot to be where I am today and I'm trying to push for more, to improve and to learn," he tells SuperSport Football presenter, Thomas Mlambo, who has followed the Sea Robbers to Spain for the tour.
"We're in Spain trying to improve ourselves. [We are] playing against the best so we can come back to the country very strong," said Tito, revealing why it's beneficial for his club to be in Spain to prepare for a new season:
"I think it helps a lot, I think it in terms of mentality it gives you the confidence to play your own football, also to learn a lot from different countries, you learn different styles of play," added Tito.
