The story
Masandawana coach, Manqoba Mngqithi, has been at Chloorkop since 2014 and is finally getting his chance to showcase his talent as the man in charge.
Although he experienced a taste of being the coach in charge alongside Rulani Mokwena in a co-coaching role, Mngqithi is ready to take the league by storm as the sole head coach, assisted by Steve Komphela and Romain Folz.
Mngqithi, who last held a sole head-coaching role with Lamontville Golden Arrows in the early 2010s, cut an optimistic figure in his interview with Robert Marawa on the Marawa Sports Worldwide show.
He spoke about the positives from the Austria pre-season tour, setting the record straight on his role at Downs and heaped praise on his coaching staff.
"What I like about coach Steve, coach Kennedy, Romain, and Wendell Robinson, I like to work with people that are humble, first. I like to work with people that are not fighting for the screen, fighting to be seen, fighting for people to know how much they know. I like to work with people that have a lot of influence in making sure their job is done right.
"Wendell has done an exceptional job at Sundowns. He never talks, never goes to the media. Romain, very soon, people will be singing his praises. Coach Steve? everybody knows what he's capable of. So, I want to work with people that will make a difference, Sundowns is a big slice of cake, it's difficult for me to eat it alone, it's too much," added Manqoba.
