The story
Magesi goalkeeper and captain, Elvis Chipezeze delivered another stellar performance between the posts as this season's surprise packages narrowly defeated Richards Bay, 1-0 on Saturday at King Zwelithini Stadium, securing their spot in the Carling Knockout final.
This marked Chipezeze's third consecutive Man-of-the-Match award, bringing his total earnings to an impressive R300 000. After his lively showing in Durban, the Zimbabwean international was quick to pay tribute to the Dikwena tša Meetse supporters.
"First of all, I would just like to thank the fans out there. Like I say, every time I'm doing these interviews, we play for them. And for them, coming all the way from Limpopo to support us, means a lot.
"They are spending their hard earned money to support us, we are just here to serve and make them happy at the end of the day," said Chipezeze to the media on Saturday.
The 34-year-old Zimbabwean has been instrumental in Magesi's journey to the final, with key victories over Orlando Pirates, TS Galaxy, and Richards Bay.
Chipezeze has also kept five clean sheets in all competitions this season, not only making the "Black Cat" the most entertaining keeper but also one of the most in-form shot-stoppers in the PSL.
The ex-Baroka man will hope to maintain his good form and potentially bag a fourth R100k Man of the Match prize when Magesi face the gargantuan task of taking on Mamelodi Sundonws in the Carling Knockout Cup Final on 23 November in Bloemfontein.
