War Of Words: Nico Jackson Vs John Obi Mikel

The story

It's been an entertaining war of words between Chelsea and Nigeria legend, John Obi Mikel and current Blues striker, Nicolas Jackson.

Since joining Chelsea, Jackson has played 46 games for the Blues, scoring 18 goals and contributing a further six assists in the process, but has been criticised for his inconsistent finishing.

Obi Mikel was the latest to come after Jackson's finishing on beIN Sports in the coverage of Chelsea's 2-0 defeat to Manchester City in the opening weekend of the English Premier League:

"We've played OK, we haven't played perfect, but we've played OK. We created chances, we haven't taken them. And just an example of how Jackson finishes.

"You need a striker who knows how to hit a ball back in the back of the net and that's what we don't have. I know I talk so much about him and sometimes I sound like I disrespect him. I don't disrespect him," stated Mikel, who added:

"I think at Chelsea Football Club we need a top striker who can get us a goal."

On Sunday, Jackson played an important role in Chelsea's emphatic 6-2 victory over Wolves, scoring the opening goal before offering an assist for Cole Palmer to make it 2-1 for Enzo Maresca's men.

After the match, the Senegalese striker wasted no time in firing a shot at Mikel on Instagram:

"@Mikel_john_obi shut your mouth. Don't talk s***, we are killing ourselves for Africa."
