After giving a few of his key players a rest in the CAF Champions League group stage opener against Nouadhibou, Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena is expected to recall two senior players for the Tshwane derby.
Sundowns have not played a Premiership match in over two months and return with a challenging match against their Tshwane rivals SuperSport United, who were involved in CAF Confederation Cup action over the weekend.

Both Themba Zwane and Teboho Mokoena were unused substitutes in the 3-0 victory over Nouadhibou and Sundowns comfortably got the job done without their captain and deputy.
Now, with SuperSport next on the schedule at Lucas Moripe Stadium, Mokwena looks set to bring them back, with fresh legs after getting a breather on the weekend.
Both Zwane and Mokoena were part of the Bafana Bafana side that took on Benin and Rwanda in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers recently and the time they got to rest over the weekend could work in favour of Sundowns, who are determined to go back to the top of the Premiership after they were usurped by Cape Town City.

Sundowns, though, have five games in hand and over the Citizens, giving them an edge in the race for the title at the moment.
Sundowns, meanwhile, could still be without Aubrey Modiba and Mothobi Mvala, who returned from international duty with Bafana Bafana carrying injuries. Mokwena bemoaned the players' injuries last week, but with options galore in his team, the coach will still be able to field a strong team.
