Kaizer Chiefs could not bounce back from their Soweto derby defeat after they were held to a goalless draw by Royal AM on Sunday afternoon at Mpumalanga Stadium.
Mfundo Vilakazi found the back of the net for Chiefs on 18 minutes but his goal was ruled out for offside.
Amakhosi continued to create numerous chances but they were not clinical, although Royal AM goalkeeper Lungisani Mncwabe was also responsible for keeping them at bay, especially in the first stanza.
Chiefs goalkeeper Bontle Molefe only became busy towards the end, as he made crucial saves to keep score level.
Maritzburg United 2-1 Mamelodi Sundowns
Mamelodi Sundowns' three-game winning run was ended after a 2-1 loss to Maritzburg United on Sunday morning at Mpumalanga Stadium.
Andiswa Sithole gave Maritzburg the lead just after the half-hour mark and Asanda Buthelezi doubled their lead on the stroke of half-time with a long range strike that took a deflection on its way to the back of the net.
Thulani Zandamela reduced the deficit for Sundowns on the hour-mark.
Sekhukhune United 1-2 SuperSport United
SuperSport United remained at the top of the table after edging Sekhukhune United 2-1 on Sunday morning at Isak Steyl Stadium.
Jabu Matsio gave SuperSport an early lead but Sekhukhune equalised soon thereafter.
Thabang Makubo found the winner for Matsatsantsa with 23 minutes remaining.
Cape Town City 5-1 Swallows
Cape Town City maintained their second spot on the log after drubbing Swallows 5-1 thanks to a brace by Luke Daniels on Sunday morning at Malta Park.
In addition to Daniels' brace, Luphumlo Sifumba, Jody Ah Shene and Lusakhanyo Mene also got on the scoresheet in a rampant win.
Golden Arrows 1-3 Richards Bay
Richards Bay extended their unbeaten run to six matches after thrashing Golden Arrows 3-1 courtesy of a brace by Lungelo Msweli on Saturday morning at Mpumalanga Stadium.
Mfundo Ngema broke the deadlock for Richards Bay on 26 minutes from the penalty spot, Msweli doubled their lead with 15 minutes left, killed the game in the last minute and got his brace in the process.
Simphiwe Sithole scored a consolation goal for Arrows in added time.
