Kopo Set To Be A Chilli Boy?

Kopo Set To Be A Chilli Boy?

The silly season is upon us once again and this time, the rate at which players and coaches have been moving around has been faster than the Gautrain on the highveld.

Soccer Laduma has picked up information that Pretoria Callies have parted ways with coach Kwanele Kopo, the man that hauled them from the jaws of death at the halfway stage of the Motsepe Foundation Championship and pushed them to 10th position at the end of the season.

The former SuperSport United man arrived at the side at a time when there was little hope of survival as they were rock-bottom, but he inspired a miraculous escape as they went on an impressive eight-game unbeaten run to finish just below mid-table.

Granted, there were question marks about their embarrassing 4-1 loss to promoted Polokwane City on the last day of the campaign with many, including the coach himself, questioning the commitment of the players on the day, but it seems his contribution has been enough to impress one Siviwe Mpengesi.

According to reliable Siya sources, Kopo has been lured to Gqeberha, where he is expected to join Morgan Mammila either as assistant or as head coach at Chippa United.

Siya sources indicated that shortly after pulling the trigger on Lehlohonolo Seema after he had helped the team escape the guillotine on the last day of the DStv Premiership season, the trigger-happy boss started talking to Kopo, who had amicably parted ways with the Romans.

Although Mammila joined Swallows FC after being sack by the Chilli Boys, Siya sources have indicated that he will be coming back to form a coaching duo with Kopo in the new season.
