Richards Bay & Chippa Share The Spoils In Six-Goal Thriller

Chippa United fought back on a couple occasions to secure a 3-3 draw against Richards Bay FC in DStv Premiership action on Sunday afternoon.

Result: Chippa United 3-3 Richards Bay FC

Date: 30 October 2022

Venue: Bidvest Stadium

Caretake Morgan Mammila made just one change from the loss to Cape Town City midweek, as Elmo Kambindu came in for striker Etiosa Godspower Ighodaro.

The game got off to a lively start, with Richards Bay forward Luvuyo Memela forced Chippa shot-stopper Lloyd Kazapua into a save inside the opening six minutes.

The Chilli Boys managed to carve out a couple efforts of their own, as Kambindu and Ronaldo Maarman saw his effort turned away by goalkeeper Salim Magoola.

The hosts were forced to make a change at the midway point, as goalkeeper Kazapua picked up an injury and was replaced by Cuwen Prince who was making his first appearance of the campaign.

The Natal Rich Boyz would go on to get the opening goal shortly before the halftime break, with Somila Ntsundwana bagging his second goal of the campaign.

There was enough time for another goal, as the visitors extended their lead in first-half stoppage time when Chippa defender Zuko Mdunyelwa turned the ball into his own net.

The Chilli Boys managed to pull one back ten minutes into the second half courtesy of a strike from Maarman, who has now scored for the second game running.

The hosts' joy was short-lived as Richards Bay restored their two-goal lead after the mark, as Ntsundwana was on target to complete his brace on the day.

Ronald Pfumbidzai would go on to reduce the deficit for the home side with 15 minutes left on the clock, before substitute Ighodaro restored parity for Chippa three minutes later.
