DStv Premiership club Chippa United have given an important update on the transfer ban that was imposed on them last year.
Chippa were banned by FIFA following a dispute with former player Abdi Banda, but the club has now confirmed that it has been lifted. This means the club will be able to sign players before the close of the January transfer window this evening.
The club let Augustine Mulenga and Thabiso Lebitso join AmaZulu and Orlando Pirates respectively, so they have been working behind the scenes to get their ban lifted, so that they can add to their squad before the close of the window period.
In a statement released by the club on Friday morning, the Chilli Boys confirmed that they will announce players before transfer deadline this evening.
"Chippa United is pleased to announce that the ban imposed by FIFA on signing both domestic and international players has been lifted. In further exciting news, Chippa United FC is preparing to announce one or two major signings this evening. This comes as we gear up for our first away game this year against Orlando Pirates FC on 13th February 2024 and welcome Cape Town City on 17th February at our revamped Buffalo City Municipality Stadium," read the statement.
The Chilli Boys have been linked with Mamelodi Sundowns players Gift Motupa and Divine Lunga and these could be the players announced this evening by the club.
