Baartman already got some minutes in the Carling Knockout last month and Connor says the player has showed he's capable of competing the high level.
"Part of the reason I came here is to try to restructure, bring the club back to it's core values that it has and that's about youth development, promoting young players," Connor told SuperSport after the game.
"One of the things I did was to bring Luke into the squad and I think tonight and the 30 minutes he showed that he's more than capable of playing at this level.
"I don't want to get too exuberant about him, great potential and has a great future, as long as he keeps on working as hard as he can, as he's doing at the moment," he added.
Spurs remain bottom of the DStv Premiership table but they do sit three points behind 15th-placed Richards Bay FC.
