The 31-year-old, who rejoined coach Eric Tinkler at the Citizens after a five-year stint at Orlando Pirates, has been a key figure in City's midfield since his arrival.
Makaringe has been in strong form this season, making eight appearances and missing only two games in all competitions. His dynamic presence and experience have been crucial for City, but with the injury, the club will have to adapt without one of their most influential players.

City will now need to look to their squad depth to fill the void left by the injury, though the likes of Kamohelo Mokotjo and Haashim Domingo, Approcious Petrus, Thabo Nodada and Taahir Goedeman will have to step up as City navigate a congested festive season fixture list.
