The SCORE ENERGY DRINK campaign aimed at football lovers who have identified a need in their local footballing communities has a winner and it has gone to a local unsung hero. Check it out!
In April, SCORE ENERGY DRINK launched a new campaign aimed at empowering fans of the beautiful game and their communities with the motto: "Zenzele! Do It Yourself!" and a winner has finally been revealed.
The Zenzele campaign honours those unsung heroes who put their time, efforts, knowledge, skills and even funds into their local football communities for almost very little in return.
The winner of the competition will have their local team kitted out in new gear or stand the chance to win other amazing prizes with SCORE ENERGY DRINK.
Selfless Youth developer Peter Ngobeni is the second winner of the competition! Securing some kits and much-need equipment for his players.
Here's a closer look at the story behind Peter Ngobeni's work in youth development:
His journey in youth development began in 2017 after he was robbed by a group of youngsters in his community and that traumatic experienced encouraged him to work hard and ensure the rest of the youth in his community don't go down the wrong path:
"I decided to be the change I want to see and started to work tirelessly to ensure that youth don't end up resorting to crime, drug and alcohol abuse as a cry for help," says Ngobeni.
"In the past 2 years, we've managed to impact over 100 youths and through the work I do, I was invited by Scouts South Africa and Department of Social Development to become a Troop Scouter with the aim of ensuring that the youth learn leadership skills and participate in activities that teaches life skills through learning in a fun yet socially responsible manner.
"We currently have 50 kids in programme and receiving the Soccer kits and equipment from SCORE ENERGY DRINK and [Soccer] Laduma will go a long way in installing pride. I have plans to build our girls soccer and netball teams so that we can get the girls involved and experience the joy sport brings," says the inspiring Ngobeni who added:
"I urge the readers to be proactive citizens by taking on social development initiatives as all the youth need is a change of mindset, which will in turn create a brighter future for the youth and a safer environment for all."
