Orlando Pirates will play one less game than their South African counterparts in CAF inter-club competitions this year, needing to beat just two teams to reach the Confederation Cup group stages.
The Buccaneers, who qualified for the CCC after winning last season's Nedbank Cup, have been given a bye into the first round of qualifying following their impressive showing in the 2013 Champions League, meaning that they skip the preliminary round.
Eric Tinkler's side will face the winner of the Uganda Revenue Authority v Elgeco Plus clash in their first round tie, before taking on either Kwesi Appiah's Sudanese side, Khartoum SC, Power Dynamos of Zambia, CF Mounana (Gabon) or Polisi from Zanzibar.
Bucs will start with home advantage in their first round tie, aiming to finish the job away from home, but face an away first leg in their second round clash.
Pirates' Potential Opponents:
First Round
Uganda Revenue Authority (UGA)
or
Elgeco Plus (Madagascar)
Second Round
Khartoum SC (Sudan)
or
Power Dynamos (Zambia)
or
CF Mounana (Gabon)
or
Polisi (Zanzibar)
Pirates will then be drawn against a Champions League dropout in their third round game as they look to qualify for the group stages.
The CCL preliminary stages will begin in the second week of February, however Pirates' first game will take place in the second week of March.
