Premier Soccer League sides resumed their continental campaigns last weekend and have been praised for their display.
The Buccaneers hosted Algerian side JS Saoura at Orlando Stadium and bagged a 2-0 win in their Group B opener and according to Phelelani Mpangase, there was some good perfomances from the Sea Robbers.
"It was good to see Orlando Pirates playing well and winning, taking into account that they haven't been doing well especially before December. They drew games, it was a positive start to begin with a win," Mpangase told the Siya crew.
"But they will have it though in Algeria, they have to improve and must try to avoid playing an open game. They really need to make sure they protect what they have at home."
In the CAF Champions League, Usuthu went to Morocco to face Raja Casablanca in a clash where many expected the Durban side to be dominated and Mpangase feels McCarthy showed his class by preparing the team.
"AmaZulu FC, I think they did well in Morocco, they've managed to show their discipline against tough team like Raja Casablanca. It didn't look like they were playing away, they showed fight and it shows coach Benni McCarthy is a top coach," he added.
"I see them go all the way like Kaizer Chiefs. The coaches and analysts are doing well in making sure they do well against big clubs."
The former defender also feels as much as his former club Mamelodi Sundowns didn't play well in their win opener against Al Hilal, they have what it takes to overcome any challenge.
"Sundowns were not their best on the day but it is still early days to judge them because they have a decent squad to overcome," he added.
