Result: Sekhukhune United 2-1 Lunda Sul FC (2-2 agg.)
Date: 21 September 2024
Venue: New Peter Mokaba Stadium
The Limpopo outfit came into the second leg trailing after late 1-0 loss in Angola seven days ago, while they were also in league action on Wednesday evening.
The only positive for Sekhukhune heading in to the second leg was their record at home in last season's competition, where they were unbeaten with two wins and two daws.
Seema's charges got the breakthrough in the 24h minute, with new signing Makgalwa firing home from a tight angle after some quick thinking from a set-piece.
Sekhukhune, however, were unable to hold on to their lead as the Angolan outfit levelled matters ten minutes before the halftime break to take a 2-1 lead on aggregate.
The home side continued pushing for a second goal and they were rewarded in the 68th minute as Makgalwa completed his brace with a superb strike from 20 yards out that sailed into the top corner.
There would be no third goal in the latter stages of the second period, as the Limpopo outfit fail to reach the group stages of the Confederation Cup on the away goals rule.
