Marumo Gallants' journey in the CAF Confederation Cup came to an end after failing to overturn a first-leg loss to TP Mazembe on Sunday afternoon.
Result: Marumo Gallants 0-0 TP Mazembe (0-1 agg.)
Date: 05 December 2021
Venue: Peter Mokaba Stadium
Gallants made three changes to the side that thrashed TS Galaxy in the DStv Premiership, as Tebogo Thangwane, Ndabayithethwa Ndlondo and Miguel Timm were all recalled.
Bahlabane Ba Ntwa were close to getting a positive result in the first-leg, as they narrowly lost 1-0 after skipper Lehlohonolo Nonyane scored an own goal just before the half-time break.
The Limpopo side boosted their confidence ahead of this tie with a 3-1 win over TS Galaxy, that eased their relegation worries while TP Mazembe were not scheduled domestically during the week.
Gallants could not afford conceding an away goal, as that could give them a mountain to climb and they did not concede in the first stanza but they also did not score either, as the Congolese giants went to the half-time break leading 1-0 on aggregate.
The hosts needed to save their campaign in the second stanza by getting on the scoresheet but Mazembe remained resolute at the back.
Gallants made a double attacking change in the last 22 minutes as Thabo Mnyamane and Monde Mphambaniso replaced Joseph Molangoane and Katlego Otladisa.
However, the Ravens were able to see out the remaining stage of the second half, as they progressed to the group stages with a 1-0 aggregate win.
