Following his first-ever CAF Champions League final defeat, at the hands of Wydad Casablanca on Monday night, an Al Ahly legend has advised the club's hierarchy to fire Pitso Mosimane.
The Red Devils went into the competition decider with a massive mountain to climb as it was to be played at the Stade Mohamed V, the home of Wydad.
Aided by the crowd, the Botola Pro leaders defeated the Egyptian giants 2-0, thanks to goals from Zouhair El Moutaraji's either side of half-time.
This is the Moroccans' third Champions League title, and the second they have won at the expense of Al Ahly in the final.
Irrespective of the defeat coming in the midst of such controversial circumstances, former Al Ahly forward Taha Ismail has placed the blame at Mosimane's doorstep, critiquing his style of management as the cause for the loss.
"Let's not talk about numbers, no one can always show impressive numbers, it will change with time," the 83-year-old said, as per KingFut.
"In the Champions League, Al Ahly lost twice to Sundowns and has barely beaten Al-Merreikh.
"In the Egyptian Premier League, they lost nine points in four games, and even ENPPI game which they won was difficult.
"Al Ahly recent results are disappointing, the players don't seem to be fit, but how can they be exhausted when they are rested for eight or nine days?
"The team is in poor shape both physically and tactically, Mosimane destroyed some players mentally, like [Mohamed] Sherif and Afsha, who now lack confidence.
"I don't understand the way Al Ahly played at the start of Wydad game, they couldn't get the ball out of their side of the pitch.
"Mosimane must leave the club, it's over, he shouldn't keep his position until the end of the season.
"Last season he lost the league to Zamalek despite being ahead, and this season the team is losing points again.
"Mosimane has done good things for the team, he should be thanked for his efforts but this is the end of this journey."
