CAF Champions League Result: Kaizer Chiefs 2-1 Township Rollers Date: 14 February 2015 Venue: FNB Stadium A late header from Tefu Mashamaite handed Kaizer Chiefs a 2-1 win over Township Rollers in their preliminary first leg CAF Champions League tie at the FNB Stadium. Chiefs went on the attack right from the onset and opened the scoring as early as the fifth minute, as Rusike collected a pass from Bernard Parker before placing an effort into the far corner.
It was one way traffic in the first half and Chiefs should have been two goals up in the 19th minute but Rollers goalkeeper, Mwampule Masule, did well to deny Rusike, as well as George Lebese. The visitors, meanwhile, struggled to get a hold of the ball and were chasing shadows for large parts of the opening 45 minutes. Although, Township Rollers should have been level in the 34th minute, Segolame Boy picked out Jerome Louis on the edge of the area but the striker managed to balloon his effort over the crossbar. Rusike had a couple chances to extend's Chiefs' lead just before the halftime break but the Zimbabwean forward was not clinical enough. It didn't take long for the visitors equalise, as Segolame Boy profited from some sloppy defending to fire a low effort into the far corner in the 47th minute. Chiefs had the better of the chances in the second half with Rollers shot-stopper, Masule, on hand to keep out Siphiwe Tshabalala's free-kick in the 50th minute Stuart Baxter then brought on George Maluleka and Mandla Masango early in the second half for much needed energy and pace. However, it was captain Mashamaite who rose highest to head home in stoppage to clinch a first leg victory for Chiefs.
