AmaZulu FC coach Benni McCarthy has confirmed an injury blow to his side, after the CAF Champions League win over ES Setif at the weekend.
Sphesihle Maduna has been absent at Usuthu, which created speculation about the player's future, with clubs in North Africa understood to be monitoring his situation.
But according to McCarthy, the young midfielder's absence has nothing to do with his future, and suffered a serious injury in November against Stellenbosch FC.
"Maduna got injured against Stellenbosch in the first leg game. He will start running, it was the same injury when he had a broken foot," McCarthy told the media.
"He cracked his bone where he had an operation, it opened it again. I don't know if it is because of our training pitch or wearing the wrong footwear, that's one of the things our specialists are looking at - the kind of a boot he is using.
"Against Stellenbosch, they stood on his foot where he had the operation and obviously he tried to pull out.
"He has been sidelined since then. In a week's time, he will start jogging, he will probably be out for another month or two until we see him back in the team."
The former Bafana Bafana striker says the attacking midfielder was missed.
"He is a player we are really missing, he is missed for that fearless attitude and taking players on, we are missing him a lot."
