In 2013, after a 26-year trophy-laden stint as manager of United, the Scotsman decided to call time on his managerial career.
The club reached unparalleled heights during Ferguson's tenure at Old Trafford, winning 13 Premier League titles, two UEFA Champions League trophies, five FA Cups and four League Cups, and becoming one of the most recognisable brands in world football.
According to The Sun, following his departure from the managerial role, the Red Devils rewarded the legendary coach with an ambassadorial role that sees him earn £2 million (R38 million) a year from the club.
The same report suggests that Ferguson has seen a noteworthy rise in the valuation of his companies, to £40 million (R770 million).
The latest figures from the company he uses for his commercial pay, ACF Sports Promotions, show an ascension in the price of his assets by £8.5 million (R163 million) in 2021.

His book Alex Ferguson: My Autobiography, published in 2013, sold millions of copies for the treble-winning manager.
Couple all of that with the £100 000 (R1.9 million) the 80-year-old reportedly charges for motivational speaking, the former Aberdeen manager is said to be earning about £235 000 (R4.5 million) a week – which would put him among the five-highest earning Premier League managers right now.
Who do United take on next?
The Red Devils will be desperate to pick up three points on Saturday afternoon as they take on Frank Lampard's Everton in the Premier League, a must-win game for Ralf Rangnick's side.
