After insisting Neymar will not become a Manchester City player in this transfer window, Pep Guardiola has revealed which Premier League player the Citizens are currently trying to sign.
Neymar To Man City? Pep Responds
With the likes of Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez having arrived at the EPL champions' home ahead of next season, more acquisitions are likely.
With Ukraine international Oleksandr Zinchenko said to have agreed a move to Arsenal, as confirmed by Guardiola, the Spaniard has now admitted that City are currently negotiating a deal for Brighton Hove Albion left-back Marc Cucurella.
According to the Daily Mail journalist Jack Gaughan, the Spanish tactician did mention that the club has alternatives in their own squad should they fail to land Cucurella's signature.
Pep Guardiola on Marc Cucurella deal: “We are in negotiations. If it doesn't happen, we’ve alternatives… Cancelo, Wilson-Esbrand is a young talent, Ake can play there”, tells via @Jack_Gaughan. ?? #MCFC

“Haaland? Once he reaches full fitness, he will be unstoppable”.
The fullback has impressed in England following his arrival in August last year, and was as voted Brighton's Player of the Season at their in-house awards ceremony at the end of the 2021/21 season.
Cucurella, who has played just once for Spain so far, is considered among the brightest emerging left-backs in Europe despite being let go by Barcelona.
Although the 23-year-old made just one senior appearance for the Catalan giants, Cucurella has spent time at Eibar and Getafe in Spain, playing more than 100 first-team matches between those two clubs.
City vs Bayern
The Citizens are set to take on Bayern Munich in a pre-season friendly in the early hours of Sunday morning at Lambeau Field in the US, a game the Premier League champions will go into on the back of a 2-1 win over Mexican side Club America.
Bayern, meanwhile, beat Wayne Rooney's DC United 6-2 in a friendly on Thursday, a win in which new signings Sadio Mane and Matthijs de Ligt both scored.
