The match officials from the weekend's Telkom Knockout semi-finals have been lauded by the South African Football Association's referees department.
Mamelodi Sundowns and Maritzburg United will play in the final of the TKO after they defeated Golden Arrows and Kaizer Chiefs respectively.
SAFA head of referees, Tenda Masikhwa, lauded the officials for the way they handled the two matches.
"We are glad with the continued good quality display by officials. This is what we expect at this level," said Masikhwa, as quoted on SAFA's official website.
"On Saturday (23 November), it was pleasing to watch the first semi-final match between Golden Arrows vs Mamelodi Sundowns. We are also glad that players were disciplined and respected match officials' decisions. Victor Gomes, Zakhele Siwela, Emmanuel De Sani, Eugene Mdluli and Match Commissioner Johnny du Toit have shown that psychological preparedness for matches makes officiating a pleasant experience," he added.
"Those who officiated on Sunday's other semi-final match between Kaizer Chiefs vs Maritzburg United at Mbombela Stadium, seemed to have vowed to maintain the same, if not better, level of good officiating displayed on Saturday. The match was flowing and I want to praise Luxolo Badi, who is one of our up-and-coming referees, Elphas Sitole, Kenny Mamegwa, Sandile Dilikane and Match Commissioner Jabu Nzima for the professionalism in which they handled the match on Sunday," he said.
