Bruno Fernandes is reportedly set to sign a contract extension with Manchester United that will see his current wages doubled.
According to The Athletic, the Portuguese playmaker will extend his stay at Old Trafford by five years with a lucrative new deal.
United are understood to be willing to offer the former Udinese man a new contract worth £240 000 (R4.6 million) a week.
Fernandes' current deal runs until 2025, with United having an option to extend it by a further year.
However, ever since he arrived in Manchester in January 2020, Fernandes has proved a vital cog in the Red Devils machine, and the club is seemingly keen to show its gratitude by rewarding the 27-year-old with a bumper new contract.
Despite suffering a dip in form this season, the attacking midfielder has found the back of the net nine times and provided 14 assists across all competitions for United.
The EPL giants have reportedly been exploring the possibility of extending their sixth-most expensive signing's contract since the end of last year, and it now seems a breakthrough has finally been made.
Fernandes is still a long way from being among United's highest earners, though, with the Cristiano Ronaldo, David de Gea and Jadon Sancho in the top three, but it is an incredible pay raise considering he was making a mere £50 000 (R961 000) a week at Sporting Lisbon only two years ago.
