Former Arsenal star Carlos Vela is a goal away from reaching an impressive individual milestone in the MLS.
Vela Reveals Reason Barca Move Collapsed
After joining the north London club from Guadalajara in 2006, the Mexican forward went on to appear 64 times for the Gunners and contribute to 21 goals in all competitions under legendary manager Arsene Wenger.
His spell in England officially came to an end in 2012 following various loan spells away from the club, with Vela joining LaLiga side Real Sociedad on a permanent transfer.
In Spain, the forward began to shine as he found regular game time. During his six-year stay at Sociedad, he hit the back of the net on an impressive 73 occasions, while assisting a further 42 goals for his colleagues.
In 2018, the 79-time Mexico international took his career to the MLS when he signed for Los Angeles FC, a move that has brought him huge success.
Since his arrival in the US, the former Premier League striker has been named in the MLS All-Star team twice, while he also won both the MLS Golden Boot and MLS MVP award in 2019.
When Los Angeles take on the Seattle Sounders on Saturday in this weekend's round of fixtures, the two-time Sociedad Player of the Year will be hoping to achieve his best goal tally for a single club since beginning his journey as a professional, with Vela currently on 73 strikes in just 115 matches for his club.
