MLS star Carlos Vela has sent a strong warning to his new teammate Gareth Bale, who completed a shock transfer to Los Angeles FC this past weekend following a nine-year stay at Real Madrid.
On Sunday, it was confirmed that the 32-year-old Wales international had joined the Black and Gold following a successful nine-year spell at Los Blancos, during which he won five UEFA Champions League titles.
Bale becomes the latest high-profile footballer to take his career to the US after Giorgio Chiellini also signed for LAFC, but the Welshman has now been warned by Vela, his new colleague, that it will not be easy in his new home.
"I don't have to talk much about him because everybody knows how good he is," the Mexico international said, according to Sky Sports.
"The only thing I can say is, he will have to come to work because it (MLS) is not as easy as the people think, so if he comes in a good shape and in a good way, with a good attitude and a good mentality, he will be so important for us.
"I hope we can bring that next level for the team to win trophies."
Although Bale will arrive at the club soon, it seems unlikely the winger will be available for Los Angeles' clash against the Vancouver Whitecaps this weekend.
Bale's new side will take on the Whitecaps away from home in the MLS on Sunday, and will be hoping to continue their recent unbeaten run.
LAFC have claimed 10 points out of a possible 12 from their past four matches, picking up wins against San Jose Earthquakes, New York Red Bulls and FC Dallas.
