Orlando Pirates' interest in goalkeeper Veli Mothwa appears to have cooled off and the player's new AmaZulu FC contract could have a lot to do with it.

It's no secret that the Buccaneers have been assessing their options regarding bringing a new keeper on board to initially give Richard Ofori stiff competition with Wayne Sandilands moving on, while Siyabonga Mpontshane is in his final months.
Pirates did recruit Sipho Chaine from Chippa United just hours before the July to August transfer window slammed shut earlier this season, and that move proved to be a masterstroke when both Ofori and Mpontshane got injured.
Siya sources had indicated that Mothwa was on Pirates' radar prior to the start of the 2022/23 season, but then committed his future to Usuthu.

"Yes, his previous contract would be coming to an end, but we did our business a lot earlier than people anticipated. However, if you want more information, you would need to speak to the AmaZulu president (Sandile Zungu)."
Usuthu have done some good business with Pirates recently after Tapelo Xoki and Makhehleni Makhaula transferred to the Buccaneers and Gabadinho Mhango moved in the opposite direction this season.
