Vukusic’s Agent Sets The Record Straight, Issues Apology!

Vukusic’s Agent Sets The Record Straight, Issues Apology!

A local football agent has commented on reports of a potential ban at one of the DStv Premiership club as a result of a dispute involving his client.

It has been reported by the SABC Sport that AmaZulu have been ordered to compensate their former coach Jozef Vukusic, following the latest ruling by the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Switzerland.

There has been a dispute emanating from when Vukusic was the coach of Usuthu from September 2019 to August 2020, when his contract was terminated, after he was initially placed on special leave in March.

The coach had been appointed on a three-year deal when he replaced Cavin Johnson, having previously been in charge at Polokwane City.

Following the latest developments, where legal representative Kabelo Mashigo confirmed to SABC Sport that AmaZulu have been ordered to pay the coach damages for the termination of the contract, the Slovakian coach's representative Ratshibvumo Mulovhedzi of Rush Hour Sports Management has opted to set the record straight.

"I am busy trying to bring coach Josef Vukusic back to the country for employment and I was shocked to read reports about him stating other things. The most unfortunate thing is that the person doing this is someone I know very well and have had dealings with in the past, including about the same coach. I am a football person and I prefer doing things the football way but unfortunately it seems he's got other ideas and preferring doing things in his own way that will suit his profession. That is so unfortunate because as the coach's representative I now have my hands tied because I am busy here working on bringing the coach back to the PSL and on the other side the coach's image is being dented," said Mulovhedzi.

"This matter was discussed and settled long time ago under the previous ownership of AmaZulu. Yes, there had been an outstanding contractual matter between the coach and AmaZulu but it was discussed and an agreement was reached between all the parties involved. Also, I know that when clubs change ownership the new owners inherit the debt of the previous owners, and I don't dispute that. But all I am saying is that this should have been handled in a better way, especially for a matter that had been settled. As someone who introduced the guy to the coach, who is now pursuing the matter and it is so disappointing that it is now being handled in this way. But such is life and these things happen and my only worry now is that I will be the one having to get the coach appointed elsewhere in the PSL again in future and I will be having a lot of damage control to do. I would have expected the guy to discuss it with me before doing what he is now doing. I would like to apologise to the current management of AmaZulu for this, from the president and everyone and I tell them that myself and the coach we are distancing ourselves from whatever is being said in the media in the name of the coach. I have spoken to the coach and he is currently in Argentina where he is busy with football related matters on the field of play and we are not interested in any of this. What I can confirm though is that he is interested in coming back to South Africa one day to coach and that is what we are busy working on. People don't know that this is the coach I once recommended to Pirates and is highly rated and with what is being said about him now, I'm not sure what the purpose is," the representative added.
