Nations League: Ronaldo Reaches Crazy Milestone

Portugal 2-1 Croatia

Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 900th career goal as Portugal secured a 2-1 win over Croatia in their UEFA Nations League opener.

Skipper Ronaldo spearheaded the attack for the Selecao, alongside Rafael Leao, both flanked by Bernardo Silva and Pedro Neto, who started ahead of Diogo Jota.

Portugal had a dream start after Diogo Dalot gave them the lead after seven minutes with a close-range finish from a cut-back by Bruno Fernandes.

Roberto Martinez's charges were 2-0 up 11 minutes before the break after Ronaldo fired home a cross by Nuno Mendes and scored his 900th career goal.

The Chequered Ones got a goal back just before the interval after an own goal by Dalot, but Portugal held on to maximum points in the second stanza.

Serbia 0-0 Spain

Holders Spain had a slow start after playing to a goalless draw against Serbia in League A4 at Stadion Rajko Mitic.

Nations League and European Championship holders La Roja, were without Alvaro Morata upfront and Ayoze Perez joined Lamine Yamal, Nico Williams and Dani Olmo in attack.

After a frantic start, the game opened up only ten minutes before the interval after Luka Jovic missed an open goal for Serbia.

Spain had the better chances and the bulk of possession in the second stanza but they had no finishing touches, as the game ended goalless.

Scotland 2-3 Poland

Poland had a winning start in League A1 after edging Scotland in a five-goal thriller at Hampden Park.

Poland went ahead inside the first eight minutes after Sebastian Szymanski unleashed a long-range effort into goal after an offload from Robert Lewandowski.

Lewandowski eventually doubled the lead for the Eagles on the stroke of half-time from the penalty spot after a foul in the box.

Billy Gilmour eventually reduced the deficit for The Tartan Army early in the second stanza from a rebound in the box.

McTominay also finally got into the scoresheet legitimately for Scotland 14 minutes before time, as he equalised with relatively easy finish into the bottom corner after he was teed up by Anthony Ralston.

However, Nicola Zalewski snatched the winner for the visitors in added time from the penalty spot.

After a goalless first stanza, the Swiss were reduced to ten men shortly after the break, after Nico Elvedi's yellow card was upgraded to red-card following a Video Assistant Referee (VAR) review.

Denmark capitalized on their numerical advantage eight minutes before time after Patrick Dorgu broke the deadlock with a strike in the box after a through ball by Andreas Skov Olsen.

Switzerland continued to self destruct, as they were down to nine men three minutes before time after Granit Xhaka received a second yellow card and was sent off.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg sealed the deal for Danes in added time after firing home a strike from the edge of the box.
