UEFA Champions League Starting XI: Liverpool vs Paris Saint-Germain

UEFA Champions League Starting XI: Liverpool vs Paris Saint-Germain

Last season's UEFA Champions League finalists Liverpool will host French giants Paris Saint-Germain in their Group C opener on Tuesday night. Here is how the two teams will line up!

UEFA Champions League, Group C

Teams: Liverpool vs Paris Saint-Germain

Date: 18 September 2018

Venue: Anfield

Time: 21:00

Neutral supporters from around the world will be licking their lips ahead of the Group C encounter between Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool and Thomas Tuchel's PSG, as it is an affair that promises attacking football.

The away side, however, do not go into this tie on the best form in Europe, having lost their past three matches in the Champions League.

Liverpool's last UCL clash was the final in Kiev against Real Madrid in May, where they were defeated 3-1, following two unfortunate efforts from former goalkeeper Loris Karius. The Reds also lost Mohamed Salah to injury in the first half of that clash.

Liverpool have conceded two or more goals in their past three games in the competition, and with Kylian Mbappe and Neymar running at their defence, they will need to be a lot more assured of themselves at the back.

Both Mbappe and Neymar missed PSG's Ligue 1 clash at the weekend, and will be fresh and raring to go against the Premier League side.

Gianluigi Buffon, Marco Verratti, Dani Alves and Layvin Kurzawa will all miss the encounter through injuries and suspensions, while Liverpool will be without Dejan Lovren, Adam Lallana and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Liverpool and PSG have never met in the history of the tournament prior to tonight, but both sides will have an idea of what to expect from their opposition.
