Most footballers dream of playing in the Champions League as it is one of the toughest and most demanding competitions in club football.
Among the teams in the tournament are some of the very best footballers in the world, such as Messi and Ronaldo, who have both scored more than 100 goals in the tournament.
The two superstars are also among the best-paid players in the UCL, with the Argentine reportedly earning £500 000 (R9.8 million) a week at FC Barcelona, and his Ballon d'Or rival earning about £490 000 (R9.6 million) a week at Juventus.
Neymar is also in the top five with his weekly earnings of £444 000 (R8.7 million) at Paris Saint-Germain, while players such as Gareth Bale, Gianluigi Buffon and Paul Pogba also feature in the top 10.
Manchester United's Alexis Sanchez is believed to be on the same wage as Messi, which might be surprising considering how underwhelming his performances have been since his arrival at the club in January.
