As reported by Polish outlet TVP Sport, two VAR officials, Bartosz Frankowski and his assistant Tomasz Musial, needed to be replaced for a third-round qualifying game between Dynamo Kyiv and Rangers on Tuesday night.
The two men, along with an unnamed third person, were taken into custody in the early hours of Tuesday morning after they were caught trying to steal a road sign.
They were reportedly found to have been intoxicated, and were taken to a centre where they could sober up.
Despite Ukrainian giants Dynamo Kyiv being the home side, the Champions League qualifying encounter was held in Poland due to the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
Frankowski, 37, is considered one of Poland's top referees. He began taking charge of matches in his country's top division at 25 years old and has been a FIFA official since 2014.
