The competition's group stage was concluded last week, in which two English clubs – Manchester United and Newcastle United – crashed out.
While the Red Devils finished bottom of Group A, the Magpies, who took the lead against AC Milan at St. James' Park, ultimately finished fourth in Group F after conceding two second-half goals and losing 2-1.
Manchester City, who claimed their maiden Champions League title earlier this year following a 1-0 win over Inter Milan in the final, will now head into a last 16 tie against Copenhagen unbeaten in Europe so far this season.
Arsenal, meanwhile, will do battle against Portuguese giants Porto, while in-form 14-time champions Los Blancos will take on RB Leipzig.
Staying in Spain, Barcelona will look forward to a tricky two-legged tie against last season's Serie A winners Napoli, who have underperformed since Luciano Spalletti's departure.
Paris Saint-Germain, still looking for their first Champions League title, have been drawn against Real Sociedad.
