The Citizens advanced from Group G with six wins from six matches, scoring 18 goals and conceding only seven.
Going into the last matchweek of the competition's first round having already qualified, Pep Guardiola handed opportunities to a number of youngsters.
Norway international Oscar Bobb, 20, started for the treble champions, while 20-year-old Micah Hamilton was handed his senior debut.
The Manchester-born winger opened the scoring for City just 19 minutes into their tie against FK Crvena Zvezda in a fairy-tale moment for a player who was a ball boy for the club just six years ago.
This is according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who posted a picture of Hamilton talking to Guardiola during a game against Crystal Palace in 2017.

Speaking after the match, Hamilton admitted that finding the back of the net on his first appearance had not yet "sunk in".
"I don't even know what to say, to be honest," he said, according to City's official website.
"I started by just trying to ease into the game and then the moment came. I took the opportunity and just went to celebrate.
"It's not even sunk in yet!"
