A Manchester United midfielder has seemingly decided which international team to represent between England and Ghana.
On Tuesday, it was confirmed that 18-year-old United starlet Kobbie Mainoo has been promoted from England's U21 team to Gareth Southgate's main squad.
The midfielder impressed in the Red Devils' 4-3 victory over Liverpool in the FA Cup this past weekend, with his call-up to the senior squad appearing to be based on merit and not because another player has dropped out.
England will go up against Brazil and Belgium in friendly matches this international break, with Mainoo now in line for his debut.
The teenager is also eligible to play for Ghana, but it appears the Ghana Football Association will need to give up all hope of seeing the United prospect don the white of the Black Stars.
In a video posted on England's official social media channels, Mainoo provided his reaction to receiving the exciting news.
"It's a bit different!" he said.
"I got called up to the U21s, then I got a text from Steve Holland (Southgate's assistant). He told me to come and meet him at reception.
"He told me that I had been called up to the main squad. I don't think it has really sunk in yet. I have (text back home) – they are all buzzing and excited!"
