Arsenal 'Closing In' On First Signing Of 2023

Reports suggest that Premier League leaders Arsenal are close to securing their first signing of 2023.

Ronaldo Ramos To Reunite At New Club?

Off-season acquisitions have helped the Gunners exceed expectations and put on a serious challenge for the Premier League title this season, with the north Londoners finding themselves at the top of the English top flight table going into 2023.

The signings of the likes of Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko at the beginning of the campaign have helped Mikel Arteta and his men make a concerted effort to end Manchester City's recent dominance of the league, and the Spanish tactician will be hopeful that January acquisitions will help sustain their title challenge.

With recent injuries to attacking options such as Jesus and Reiss Nelson, Arteta has made it known he wants to reinforce his forward line in the upcoming transfer window, and it seems the San Sebastian native may soon get his wish.

Highly touted Ukraine international Mykhailo Mudryk is tipped to make his way to the Emirates Stadium in the new year, with the record FA Cup holders having been in talks in recent days with Shakhtar Donetsk over a suitable fee for the 21-year-old, according to the Daily Mirror.

Arsenal reportedly had an earlier bid of £55 million (R1.1 billion) rebuffed by the Ukrainian outfit, but Shakhtar CEO Sergei Palkin has insisted they are willing to sell if their valuation of their star man is met.

"Negotiations are continuing," Palkin said, as per the club's official website.

"We receive offers, but they are not the ones we would like to see on our table.

"We are open to negotiations, ready to exchange ideas and figures.

"If we will agree, then let it be so. If we will not, then let it be another time."

Mudryk has been in fine form for his club so far this season, having scored 10 goals and assisted a further eight strikes in the 18 appearances he has made for the Miners.
