A former teammate of Kylian Mbappe's at Paris Saint-Germain has insisted that the superstar forward was pressured into extending with the French champions.
Ronaldo Ramos To Reunite At New Club?
The 24-year-old was, for a long time, linked with a move to 14-time European champions Real Madrid, but the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner seemed to extinguish any possibility of that happening when he decided to sign a two-year extension with PSG in May.
A former teammate of the attacker, Jese Rodriguez, has now revealed that the 2022 FIFA World Cup Golden Boot winner told him that he had intended to sign with Los Blancos.
"No, I did not speak to him again, but come on, I was clear about it because he told me," he told Spanish outlet AS.
"He told me and I tell more people: those of us who spoke Spanish. I think it was more personal than professional pressure.
"All players make decisions, they can be wrong or accept the decision. But the people cannot intervene.
"For example, the president of France cannot tell you 'don't go here, you have to stay. In my opinion, I think he felt more personal than professional pressure to make a decision."
The France international signed the lucrative extension with Les Parisiens after receiving calls from the likes of the nation's president Emmanuel Macron urging him to stay in the French capital.
Kylian Mbappe Barcelona Bound?
Since prolonging his spell at the Parc des Princes, though, there have been rumours that he wants a departure already, with the latest reports suggesting that Real's eternal rivals Barcelona could try to lure Ligue 1's top goalscorer this season to the Camp Nou.
