The ex-Mamelodi Sundowns man continued his impressive form in African's biggest club competition, which he has now won twice since bursting on to the scene in South Africa, following his team's 3-2 aggregate victory over Moroccan side Wydad FC earlier this month.
Tau scored five goals and assisted a further five strikes as the Red Devils went on to claim the prestigious trophy, with four of those contributions coming in the two-legged semi-final and two-legged final.
Here are the five players with the most goal contributions in this past season's CAF Champions League:
After playing a hand in 10 goals, the ex-Brighton Hove Albion forward is out on his own in terms of direct involvements, with three of his teammates in Egypt and Downs striker Peter Shalulile completing the five-man list.
Hussein El Shahat, Mahmoud Kahraba and Shalulile all finished the competition with seven goal contributions, while Ali Maaloul played a hand in six strikes, according to FotMob.
In Egypt, meanwhile, the Red Devils are still considered strong favourites to claim the 2022/23 Egyptian Premier League title, having failed to lose in their 25 games so far this season.
Al Ahly currently have six matches in hand over league leaders Pyramids, who are two points ahead of them, while Marcel Koller's side are eight points in front of third-placed Future FC.
