The 33-year-old joined Fiorentina as a free agent at the start of the season after missing the entirety of the 2023/24 campaign following his free-agent departure from United.
After waiting for his chance in Serie A, De Gea has started his side's past four league matches, including their 2-1 win over Milan on Sunday.
The ex-Premier League star stunned at the Stadio Artemio Franchi stadium as he saved two penalties in the 90 minutes.
De Gea first kept out Theo Hernandez's effort in stoppage time in the first half, before making an excellent stop again to deny Tammy Abraham from 12 yards in the 56th minute.
The experienced goalkeeper was handed the Man of the Match award for his efforts, with Fiorentina manager Raffaele Palladino reserving big praise for his player.
"Trust me, he's still a monster. He's a top, world-class player," he said, according to Fabrizio Romano.
"We can see why he's a champion, a real one. We should thank him every day, he's a top goalkeeper and a role model."
De Gea has kept one clean sheet in six appearances for La Viola so far this season.
