Reigning CAF Men's Player of the Year Victor Osimhen has equalled a record set by Diego Maradona following his latest hat-trick.

Napoli largely have their superstar striker to thank for their resounding 6-1 victory over Sassuolo on Wednesday evening. The Lagos native scored twice during the first half, before netting another goal in the 47th minute of their Serie A match-up.
Osimhen scored in his first game back from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations for Gli Azzurri against Cagliari last weekend and has continued his prowess in front of goal with a trio of strikes against their latest relegation-threatened opponents.
The Super Eagles forward now has 11 goals in Serie A this season, and according to Opta Sports, this means he has matched club icons Diego Maradona and Attila Sallustro as the only players to score at least 10 goals for Napoli in four successive domestic seasons.
The 25-year-old is the Italian top flight's reigning Golden Boot (Capocannoniere) holder, but he and his side have so far failed to replicate the impressive form they showed during their triumphant 2022/23 campaign.
The Neapolitans are currently in ninth position on the log, 29 points adrift of league leaders Inter Milan, while Osimhen is 12 goals behind Lautaro Martinez for the Capocannoniere title.

The west African's goals effectively helped end a 33-year wait for the club to finally hold the Scudetto aloft once again last season, and for that he has endeared himself to the Napoli fans in a massive way.
However, it seems this could be the final season in which he dons their famed sky blue jersey as he has garnered interest from the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Arsenal.
