The oldest professional footballer has officially joined a new club, having started his career in the 1980s.

Former Japan international Kazuyoshi Miura will continue playing professionally in the fourth tier of Japanese football after joining Atletico Suzuka on loan from second division club FC Yokohama.

The 57-year-old returns to his home country after a short loan spell at Oliveirense, a team in the second tier of Portugal for whom he made nine appearances.
His latest move brings an end to his third spell in Europe, having previously represented Italian outfit Genoa between 1994 and 1995, and Croatian side Croatia Zagreb in 1999.
Miura, often referred to as "King Kazu", has also had spells in Brazil and Australia, amassing 711 appearances in his club career so far.
The striker's most prolific stint came at Tokyo Verdy between 1995 and 1999, during which he scored an impressive 110 goals in 187 matches.
On the international stage, meanwhile, he struck 55 times in 89 outings for Japan after representing his country for the first time in 1990.

Despite this record, Miura was not a part of Japan's 1998 FIFA World Cup squad, nor was he selected for the team that went to the 1999 Copa America.
