Luca joined Racing Santander in a one-year loan deal on Tuesday, with the shot-stopper expected to be the first choice between the sticks for the newly-promoted Segunda Division side.
Having been unveiled on Thursday evening, he explained why he opted to leave the Santiago Bernabeu.
"Leaving Real Madrid and the city of Madrid will be good for me," he said, as quoted by Marca.
"It'll be good for me to get to know a new team and a new city.
"I had many offers to pick from, but the most important and interesting one was always Racing Santander.
"I want to develop at a historic club like this one. I couldn't be happier or more excited."
Luca had fallen down the pecking order at Real, with Keylor Navas seemingly set to stay for another season as the second-choice stopper to Thibaut Courtois, and with Andriy Lunin expected to be their back-up.
